13 yo 17 hh Draft X Gelding
Currently available for Quarter or Half Lease. Eddie is a 2010 Draft/Saddlebred/Arabian gelding, flea bitten gray, 17 hh teddy bear. He is a gorgeous gentle giant and is as easy to handle as he is easy to look at! Eddie spent 10 years as a Track Pony and was being retrained as a Fox Hunter. Unfortunately, we discovered Eddie has calcified deposits in his left foreleg, so he is no longer capable of hard work. No jumping, dressage, etc. He is sound for WTC, enjoys his groundwork in the ring, and is learning to love trail riding. He is a wonderful horse and beginner/husband/kid/granny SAFE SAFE on the ground and in the ring. I put everyone who visits on him and do not take the word "safe" lightly. He's carried around people who have never been on a horse before and does his job with pride :) He needs a confident, intermediate rider for trails. He could join a hunt field, but only with the Hilltoppers. Stands, ties, loads, clips, perfect for vet and farrier. He's pretty much perfect all the way around and the sweetest horse you'd ever want to meet! He doesn't have a bad bone is his body, will pack a beginner, covers under you when you lose your balance, and tries so hard to learn new things and please his rider. We have therapeutic riding barns that want to scoop him up, but we just can't wrap our heads around letting this amazing boy go. Fun Fact: Eddie was in a parade with a paraplegic rider and a full marching band!
10 yo 15.3 hh Draft/QH X Gelding
Currently available for Quarter or Half Lease. Romeo is a 2013 Draft/Quarter Horse gelding, bay, 15.3 hh charmer. I never understood the meaning of "in your pocket" or "puppy dog" horse until this guy came into my life! He is absolutely the sweetest thing. He is my heart horse, but I need help keeping him in consistent work to stay supple and strong in his core and top line. Romeo's background is a bit of a mystery, but we think he maybe pulled an Amish carriage around the PA countryside. He was rescued from a feed lot, so your guess is as good as ours! Right now we feel Romeo needs an intermediate to advanced rider because he is still very green and learning everyday. He has only been under saddle for about three years, and is working hard on becoming the perfect riding companion. We strongly think this guy has limitless potential, but our plan is to make a fox hunter and a ranch horse out of him! He's already an incredible trail companion. Absolutely ZERO spook. Will go over, under, around anything you ask him to with little hesitation. More whoa than go, but not a kick ride. Will lead or follow, hack out alone or in a group. He is brave and willing and truly wants to please his person. Loves dogs and kids and COOKIES! :) he's a real handsome gentleman.

Rescue Org: N/A - Owner Surrender
Phoebe is a 27 yo registered Morgan, one of 17 horses that were abandoned in late Summer 2022 when the owner suddenly passed. This delightful old girl is a beautiful charmer and we can't get enough of her loving temperament. She has totally settled with Daisy and is absolutely in LOVE with Romeo! Phoebe is finally back to a healthy weight and no rain rot!
Rescue Org: Equine Rescue League
These two are the cutest little approx. 8 yo Shetland Ponies you could ever want as your barn mascots! They were from the same herd, but split upon rescue. We were able to reunite them and hope Jewel (pinto) will make a fun little riding pony! Lola is under corrective care for her very long hooves - no laminitis! Yay!
Rescue Orgs: Equine Rescue League and Saving Grace Farm
These 4 yo American Mini Potbelly Pigs are just about the cutest things ever! They were surrendered by their first owner and now live happily in a horse stall with comfy bedding and a kiddie pool! Sweet Georgie loves his belly rubs and Miss Pepper loves all things food!
Rescue Org: Middleburg Humane Foundation
Pumpkin aka "Punk" is a 9 yo Turkish Angora who followed me and Bailey home from a walk while living in Amman, Jordan!! This feisty world traveler hit the jackpot and now spends her days lounging in the warm sunroom and wrestling with her doggy siblings hehe!
Rescue Org: N/A - she found us!
Barnie was surrendered at one of our client barns and she has settled in swimmingly! Barnie is THE SWEETEST barn cat you'll ever meet - and she's a fantastically skilled hunter to boot! We couldn't be more thrilled with the newest addition to our barn family. Yay Barnie, the Queen Mouser!
Rescue Org: N/A - she found us!
Bailey was a 15 yo Chiweenie and the true guardian of the farm. This little watchdog was as mighty as she was cute!
Whiskey was an 8 yo Hound Mix who lived his best life on the farm, waiting ever so patiently for belly rubs, long walks, bones and bunnies!
(a better tribute to follow - these two losses still hurt very badly)

Daisy was the other half of the dynamic "Survivor Sisters" duo with her best bonded friend, Magic. Daisy was severely starved and in 2018, the Equine Rescue League did a fantastic job of bringing her - and Magic - back to health. Ms. Daisy was our second-oldest and lived out her final three years with us here at Misty Hills. This sweet old broodmare was an absolute peach who just LOVED to be groomed. We diagnosed her with Cushing's Disease in 2021, but we managed it well with no medication until her final year! Unfortunately, Daisy suffered a bout of laminitis and then shortly after blew an abscess in her right hind hoof. Because she was so weak from the laminitic episode, she simply could not recover. She went down a few times over the course of a few days, and the last time she went down overnight, she simply could not get back up. We made the very difficult decision to let her cross the Rainbow Bridge peacefully and humanely with TEVA's excellent care and assistance. It was a beautiful, partly sunny day just like when we let Magic go. She was laid to rest in our northernmost pasture with gorgeous mountain views. Her loving sister, Phoebe, was by her side and she passed with her head in my lap. She will always be loved and forever missed.
Magic was one of our first rescues, a gorgeous Trakehner with just the right amount of sass! She was part of the dynamic "Survivor Sisters" duo with her best bonded friend, Daisy. Magic was severely starved and in 2018, the Equine Rescue League did a fantastic job of bringing her - and Daisy - back to health. Ms. Magic was our oldest and lived out her final two years with us here at Misty Hills with all the love and care and lush pastures you could ever hope to have! She was undoubtedly my favorite (don't tell the others) and will always be remembered as the stoic leader who kept everyone in check - even our young, bossy OTTB! Magic suffered from a severe case of colic in August 2022. It was a surgical case, and with her age - 30 years young - we made the decision to let her cross the Rainbow Bridge peacefully and humanely with TEVA's excellent care and assistance. It was a beautiful, partly sunny day and we laid her to rest in our easternmost field with the best mountain views. Her loving sister, Daisy, was by her side and the boys were able to say their final farewells as well. Mr. Eddie Bear was incredibly sweet, nudging her and giving her a final nose boop. She will always be loved and forever missed.
